Balsamo Palace Two walled-in ogival arches and a balcony with richly carved supports are the remaining part of a larger structure. 2
Castle Castle has a quadrangular plan with inner courtyard and is surrounded by high walls with a massive dungeon and six towers. Reused marble from local Roman buildings. 28
Cathedral (Duomo) Basilical floor plan (three aisles without the transept) remains from the original building. Extensive mosaic pavements dated to the reign of William II (1173-1181). Current building is an 18th century reconstruction. The bell tower was completed in 1795. 9

Porta Mesagne The oldest city gate. Starting point for the Ruga Magistra, the street that lead straight to the port. Ogival vault. 3

San Basilio 0
San Benedetto The church is divided into three aisles of equal hight by six columns. The central nave is covered by ribbed cross vaults, the side aisles by barrel vaults. Remains of 13th-century frescoes on the walls ofd the church and cloister. 12
San Domenico (Chiesa del Cristo) Single nave church with a modest 15th century apse. Cuspidated façade decorated with alternating rows of pink and white stone, a large rose window and a blind arcade. Left of the portal an inscription on the first white stone row: "1232, A FU D CON” gives the foundation year as 1232. 1
San Giovanni al Sepolcro Circular floor plan supported by eight central columns with arches connecting them to the semi-columns on the perimeter wall. On the internal walls, the remains of frescoes depicting the life of Christ and saints, date back to the 13th-15th century. The north main entrance is through a small porch supported by two columns with lions at their base. 4
San Leucio Basilical floorplan with a shallow apse, two side aisles divided from the main nave by a six arches. 1
