Building Phases There was a foundation at this site since before the tenth century. The church was a Benedictine possession prior to 1212, when it was re-founded by Pietro Capuano and turned over to the Cistercians. It was probably around this time that the Romanesque cloister was built. In 1583, the complex was entrusted to the care of the Capuchins and subsequently renovated prior to 1815.
