Building Phases The church is referred to in documents in 1130 and 1132, the latter of which listed it as a possession of the Canons of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem. Recent studies of this building have concluded that the transept and the western parts of the church were begun in the middle of the 12th century, with the nave ultimately connecting the two parts at the end of the 12th or beginning of the 13th century. Major construction on the interior, including the ceiling of the transept, followed between the middle of the 13th and end of the 14th century.
